Overview
PT Central Omega Resources Tbk, through its subsidiary PT COR Industri Indonesia, commenced the construction of its Ferronickel/Nickel Pig Iron (FeNi/NPI) smelter in 2015, utilizing blast furnace technology that relies on imported metallurgical coke as its primary energy source for combustion. Following its commissioning in 2017 and the start of commercial operations in 2018, the smelter successfully produced 241,000 tons of FeNi/NPI through 2022. However, due to difficulties in securing the supply of imported coke, smelter operations have been temporarily suspended since early 2022 pending further developments.
